At Boldon School we are committed to promoting inclusion and diversity, celebrating the differences of our immediate community and the wider world. Students show respect for all protected characteristics, with LGBTQIA+ themes being consistently considered in school activities and curriculum.

  • In recent months, all students have collaborated to create a celebratory piece of artwork which represents the various identities and sexualities within the school community. They are receptive to assemblies based on the history and present state of LGBTQIA+ rights, allowing them to understand their opportunities and also what is occurring at a global level.
  • Students have the opportunity in all year groups to participate in externally delivered sessions based on identity and diversity with KOOTH, a transformational mental health support service for young people. This allows them to discuss their feelings within a protected environment, and access further support if needed.
  • The school offers an LGBTQIA+ support group called ‘The Pride Collective’ overseen by the staff ambassador for diversity and equality. This group allows students to access a safe space on a regular basis where they can celebrate their identities and discuss any issues. Students are also able to engage in trips, visits and events to further their emotional and social development.
