At Boldon School, we want students to know more, understand more and remember more. Our vision involves ensuring that our students understand that normal lessons are not enough to remember key information and they need to study beyond this. Our teaching sequence lends itself well to beginning each lesson and, indeed, each day with a “Bold Start”; this ensures that students are ready to learn by carrying out a retrieval activity.
The research behind this supports our missions to store information in our students’ long- term memory. This will, in turn, combat the forgetting curve and allow students to make better progress. Each day during registration, students will complete retrieve to succeed, this is a short retrieval task they will carry out of key knowledge their teachers have identified is important that they will revisit.
