Foreword

Opening quoteYear 11 is a very important year for all pupils culminating in their final GCSE exams.

Throughout the course of the year all students are closely monitored to ensure they reach their academic targets that are set in year 10. A number of students have mentors who talk to the pupils and give advice and guidance in all areas of development.

Parents are fully informed of progress made by their children at regular intervals and the school envisages a partnership between pupil, school, and parent working together to ensure maximum achievement. Review days and parent's evenings aid this process

Within their Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship education lessons they do a lot of work in careers to prepare them for life after school.

Staff give up time at lunch time, after school, and holidays to provide extra revision classes for GCSE courses.

After the last exam, usually early July, there is a leaving Prom, which this year is at Ramside Hall Hotel, Durham.

Boldon School is a caring school which aims to develop the whole child and opportunities are also available to take part in sport, music, drama, and other extra activity visits and activities.

Let's work together to ensure all children reach their true potential and make a success of their time at Boldon.Closing quote

Student Comments

To get a balanced view of Year 11 we asked pupils to comment on what it was like being in Year 11 at Boldon School.

Student Comment

Harry Klein
Opening quoteI like being a prefect in Year 11. You get more respect and get good careers advice to help you decide what to do in the future. In year 11 you are more mature and get to go to a Prom at the end of the term.Closing quote

Student Comment

Kaylee Carson
Opening quoteThe good things about year 11 are that you are able to have more responsibilities, like being a prefect in the school/year council, learning revision techniques to help you cope with exam stress, having your own learning mentor to make sure that you are working to your potential, having different colleges and sixth forms visit you to tell you about career options after school, having opportunities to visit universities and having the choice to go to the Prom to have fun with friends and sadly say goodbye as it would be the last time everyone would be together.Closing quote
