ART & DESIGN - Department Information

The Art and Design department is composed of 2 well-equipped studios both containing ICT facilities.  The department is also able to show the wide range of facilities within the ICT department, which is equipped for computer graphics, with a wide range of software being used with pupils of all year groups.  Pupils at Boldon School follow a general foundation art course in their first 3 years, leading to Key Stage 3.  Upper school pupils are encouraged to take as an option, Art & Design as a 2-year course leading to both Key Stage 4 and the GCSE (AQA) examination in Art and Design.

The department actively links with other areas of the school, and is developing new inter- departmental courses in the area of National Curriculum. Boldon School has a tradition of catering for pupils over a wide spectrum of abilities and this is clearly reflected in our excellent examination results over the years.
