On Wednesday the pupils visited the Chronicle newsroom.

The purpose of the day was to complete a front page of a newspaper using articles the pupils had written with a given purpose and target audience.

The pupils enhanced their ICT skills. The process was one of synthesis and evaluation as well as improving literacy skills.

The pupils had to think carefully about their choice of headline and how this

summerised their articles on the tall ships coming to Newcastle and the impact this has had on Tyneside.

The pupils were given time to reflect on what they had learnt and how they could use these skills on other tasks.
The pupils finished their day with a quiz on the North East and the impact of the Tall Ships.
