Monday July 25
The pupils worked at School. They worked very hard on a variety of tasks, preparing for their visit to South Shields Museum, Newcastle Quayside and the Evening Chroncicle Newsroom.
The morning started with a puzzle session. The puzzles were demanding and required a great deal of skill.
We started with a group task which was deceptively difficult.
Then moved onto 2 and 3 dimentional puzzles which some of the pupils were extremely good at.
Prizes were awarded for pupils who could complete the puzzles in less than 2 minutes !!

The pupils then, after a short break, took part in a planning session for their extended writing articles.
The pupils prepared for their visit to the Evening Chronicle newsroom with work on adapting factual work they had prepared for
a specific audience and purpose.
They learned journalistic techniques.
The pupils had in prepartion for the Summer school completed independent learning tasks on a series of topics.
In addition the pupils used the internet to gain further information about the Tall ships and the impact thier arrival has on Tyneside.

In their final session the pupils began work on presentations on Norway.
