Boldon School Chosen Charity

Total Raised so far: £240!!
For the next twelve months the school has adopted St. Oswald’s Children Services as its chosen charity. The plan is that throughout the year any staff or pupils who are doing a fund raising event would do so for St Oswald’s. We have already raised over £240 through a raffle in school and a green tie day on St Patricks day. Several other events are already in the pipeline such as pupils doing swimathon, where between them will be swimming a distance equivalent to how far it is between school and St. Oswald’s (approx 10.5 miles). We will keep you updated throughout the year as to how things are going. |
Who they are and what they do?
St Oswald’s Children’s Unit is registered to provide a specialist residential short break service to children with progressive, life shortening conditions. Families from across the region – Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and North Durham – access the specialist services and enjoy the friendly ‘home from home’ environment at St Oswald’s. They offer a 24 hour, seven days a week service, supported by a team of skilled staff who can meet the complex health, emotional and social needs of the children and their families.
How they are funded?
As a registered charity, they rely on voluntary giving. The annual running costs now exceed £6 million, of which £4.5 million must be raised through voluntary giving. They make no charge for any of their services.
